1. When did you first realize you wanted to write?
I can’t honestly remember a time when I didn’t want to write — but it did take me a long time to figure out what I felt good writing! When I was growing up, everything I read was either schoolwork, religious studies, or fiction that I read when I could find a spare minute. I didn’t want to write textbooks, and I wasn’t a religious scholar, so the only other thing I knew to try writing was fiction. And while I certainly enjoy it, writing fiction doesn’t come particularly easily to me. I love developing characters and worlds, but I don’t always know what to do with them. (That’s probably why video games and TTRPGs feel so liberating for me — I get to design the stuff I like and leave the plot development to other people!) I gave up on any idea of being a writer and focused on other creative outlets. But when I started reading tarot, it felt so natural to write about it that I couldn’t seem to stop — and I just started writing more and more until it became part of my daily life. Now, I can’t imagine not writing on a daily basis, even if it’s just random observations or notes to myself.
