The deadline looms, and there you are, pecking away at the computer in the wee hours of the morn. You’re trying not to watch the clock but can’t help it. Soon, the kids will be up…and so will your writing time (not to mention that dreaded deadline).
Sweaty, stressed-out, functioning on caffeine, and little else, you make it. Barely. The next day, you realize you were too busy to post on your blog. Sigh.
Sadly, this is often the reality of the writer’s life. The illusion of an author sitting behind a large, clean desk, leisurely sipping coffee while typing, is just that… an illusion. I did it all while running two businesses, taking care of my family, traveling, and trying to manage health issues. (Psst…I also do NOT have small kids, so please keep that in mind. For those of you that do, I salute you.)
Was it easy? Hell no! It was rougher than a rhino’s toenails.
But over the years, I have learned a few things about writing while living a life. Here are my tips. I hope they help you.
